Frith Hare sculpture of a startled hare
Startled hare sculpture - L
Powerful, rough and perfectly shaped with a posture that radiates alertness. This is a substantial, heavy weight, finely crafted sculpture in hand finished, cold cast bronze. Like all the sculptures in the Paul Jenkins it has beautiful surface texturing - a special centre piece for any collection of British wildlife bronzes. Supplied securely boxed and packaged. One of a range of sculptures from Paul Jenkins that has been given a luxury bronze finish that is almost indistinguishable from a hot foundry cast equivalent - except for the price which is considerably less.
The prototype of this hare was sculpted exclusively for Frith by the English artist Paul Jenkins. The design in clay was then converted into a mould for cold cast bronze so that it could be produced in an affordable way. The rough structure is deliberately chosen and emphasizes the untameable, natural charm of the hare and adds extra dynamism to the sculpture.
The production process took place entirely by hand in the studio in Exmoor (Great Britain), using the highest quality materials. The final step in the production consisted of manual finishing and polishing. Due to the high content of bronze powder and the special bronze finish, this sculpture can be placed both indoors and outdoors.
Paul Jenkins' is one of the leading British animal sculptors and is also world famous. His inspiration comes from his love of nature and many of his pieces come from direct wildlife observations. The artist has dedicated himself to the realistic sculpting of the many body positions of these graceful animals of the English countryside.
